20% electricity consumption from wind power - Denmark is the global front-runner.

Despite the size of the country, Denmark is the world's ninth largest market with a cumulative capacity of 3,159 MW at the end of 2008. This figure is expected to rise to 4,534 MW by the end of 2013.

FACTS: WIND POWER IN DENMARK

Denmark has a higher proportion of wind power in its power station mix than any other country in the world. It is expected to increase from about 20% of electricity demand now to 30% by 2012. Danish-made wind turbines are world leaders, setting the benchmark for design and efficiency.

Current wind energy capacity: 3,200 MW (end 2008)

National target: About 6,000 MW by 2025
