From ”Behind COP15” to ”Around COP15”

By Morten Bech, Marketing Manager, C.C.JENSEN

The title of this article was originally intended to be “Behind COP15” but events on the day forced the author of this article to make quite a change in title as well as the content of the article itself.

The persons included in this road trip story are 3 persons from Danish filtration experts C.C.JENSEN. The 3 persons are, Thomas K. Jensen, Wind Power Manager, Claus Kejling, Sales - and Project Engineer, Wind Power and Morten Bech, Marketing Manager.

We set off from Odense, Denmark, very early in the morning on the 15th of December with the intend to help promote the Wind Power Works campaign inside the Bella Center at the COP15 meeting. Spirits were high when we 2 hours later arrived at the Bella Center. Not even the 500 meter long queue with up to 3000 people were enough to put a fly in the ointment – well at least not in the beginning…

Actually in the beginning standing in line was a very awarding experience. Never before have we seen so many people from so many different countries, cultural backgrounds and all with different agendas.
Or though the distance to the entrance only was around 150 meters the queue only very slowly got shorter and for more then an hour the line didn’t move forward at all.

After app. 4 hours of waiting in line and with a further 4 hours ahead of us before getting into the Bella Center – the cold weather got to us and we simply gave up.

Fortunately the trip was by no means wasted then all over Copenhagen – and especially on the town hall square “Rådhuspladsen” COP15 and the climate changes were high on the agenda. On the square 100 alternative solutions were presented and tried out by the public. An example of this was that the light on the large Christmas tree which was powered by the energy created by bicycles.

The eventful day ended by attending the Wind Power Works reception at the beautiful Odd Fellow Palæ before heading back to Odense late in the evening.

All in all it had been an exciting day with many unexpected events.
